Thread Contributor: BlackCadejoWhich Wifi Adapter is best for Linux / Windows based Wifi cracking
#1

Working out an appropriate WIFI adapter [color=#4b0082]

Short and simple guys

When cracking wireless, the only hardware pre-requisite
you really need is a wireless card capable of packet injection.

Here is a link explaining packet injection
Here
Although, the title should be somewhat descriptively self explanatory.

So, Now from here you have to choose an appropriate wireless card.
Here is what you need to keep in mind.

the card should be USB (this is not a must, unless you are using virtual VM's)
The atheros chip-set's are "usually" a good choice =>90% of the time.
More MW's does not necessarily mean more power.
external antenna support is fun but is in no way manditory.
if your not familiar with linux at all. buy a card that work's with linux Out of the box
if your unsure if a device will work check Here

Okay so, you have read a few tip's and thats all good and handy.
But what should you buy?

Here you go, a few HQ member's here have recommended this. and Love it.
